The new proposed schedule for EURO 2020 is from June 11th to July 11th, 2021.

The main reason for that official decision made by UEFA is to provide a chance for domestic competitions in Europe to finish. We all know that the global pandemic has led to the postponement of many domestic football competitions all around the globe including Europe. All of the biggest European football leagues have been postponed into a somewhat uncertain possible continuation. It has only been recently that a shed of lights shines to the possible closure of European football leagues. Therefore, UEFA decided to prioritize the completion of the ongoing European domestic competitions to be finished at the moment.

The Bundesliga of Germany is one of the few competitions that have been restarted. The last fixture of Bundesliga was played on March 11th between Monchengladbach and Cologne. Following the break due to the pandemic, the league was postponed for about 2 months with the first fixture after the restart was held on May 16th involving 6 fixtures. That was the highly positive outcome that soon affects other European domestic leagues to initiate restart in their respective competition. Italian Serie A was last played on March 9th with the proposed restart on June 22nd involving 3 fixtures to play.
